Cynical Realism Exhibition

Personal

Tribute to my friend and colleague

Recently IPFW Visual Arts hosted an exhibition titled Cynical Realism by Russell Biles and Dominick Manco. Dominick has been a friend of mine for many years, having taught a lot of what I know in High School. I was drawn into the exhibition due the movement of Cynical Realism, described on the wall as a movement that "reflects a growing cynicism in art society towards the inability of authority to do the right thing towards its citizens".

I find this to be very interesting, and very true. Whether this is meant to apply to politics or perhaps religion. Now that I am starting my Senior Thesis this semester ideas like this draw my attention as they are close in heart to what I have been tossing around in my head as well. Hopefully I will see more Cynical Realism in the future. Go check out the show now before it ends on January 12th at the IPFW Visual Arts Building in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
