HDR Photography

Abandoned Exploration

A new way to meddle with images

I have just recently started meddling with HDR photography (High Dynamic Range Imaging). Basically when you take a photograph there is going to be higher amount of details in the gray area's than in the highlights and shadows. HDR photography is an editing process that remedies this potential flaw by merging several images of the same scene, each taken at different exposures, into one image.

To make your own HDR images either shot the same scene (with a tripod) at different exposures OR if you already have an image then you can go into Photoshop and manually create multiple images from the same image of different exposures. You want an odd number (for example the original and then 2 that are overexposed by 1 and 2, and 2 that are underexposed by 1 and 2). In Photoshop go to file-batch-merge to HDR and go from there. There are many tutorials along the line to help you get there. So go crazy with it and experiment away!
