Route 66 Revisited

Travel

Editing some old photos

A couple summers ago, I spent two weeks exploring everywhere from Indiana to California along Route 66. It was an amazing trip, one I would gladly take again. Last night I discovered some photographs that I had not remembered taken, I guess thats a part of aging. After some editing, here are some of the results. I was surprised at the quantity of amazing landscapes I had taken and not even remembered!

A lot of these photographs were discarded as unsuccessful at first, I suspect, due to poor lighting quality. But I have found lots of new techniques to recover lost data in imagery since I went on my trip. One of the biggest tips I would share with you involves using Adobe Lightroom. If you have a photo, say a landscape, that either has too bright of a sky or too dark of a ground, simply lower the brightness of the image and raise the fill light. This helps balance out the light. You can also raise the recovery and saturation to make it pop even more.
