Viewfinder of a Ricoh 500
Tribute to John Demuth
Asked to create a potential advertisement in class, I choose my Ricoh 500 35mm film camera as my subject. My goal was two fold: To create an image targeting and older audience, as well as creating a different set of images targeting the younger "hipster" audience if you will.
The first image is a bridge between the two. The second is of the original owner of that film camera, my great grand father John DeMuth. Last is, in a hopefully obvious way, the image that targets the younger audience. All of the images are stylized from what you see when you look through the viewfinder of that camera. They all have a bit of a faded look due to the glass creating a bit of fog in the view. Then of course the orange beveled rectangle represents the crop you see in camera as well.
