Michigan Part 3

Travel

Urban Exploration

In my trip through Michigan last October, there were many cool abandoned places to explore. Some of my favorites were Cliff Mine, Quincy Mine, and the Quincy Dredge #2. There were also lots of random abandoned buildings throughout Michigan, a surprising number in fact. I did not chance entering any, but did photograph a few from the outside.

The Cliff Mine was an interesting location, which true to its name, lies along a giant cliff wall. The journey up to the top involved a narrow, steep, windy, and one-lane dirt and rock road littered with potholes. From an aerial view, you can see the enormous and extensive piles of rock that remain from the mine, with a small stone tower oddly placed in one of the piles. Walking through this area reveals more, lots more, of the stone walls as well. The edge of the cliff features one of my favorite spots: A tree growing from the cliff edge through a crack in the wall. This beautiful tree sits in defiance to the cliff and stands taller than most trees around it.

So without further ado, here are a few of my favorite photos below. Feel free to click the link below to view nearly 200 photos from the entire trip. There will be sporadic videos from different areas of the trip taken via drone, so follow us on Facebook or Youtube to enjoy those! Our first featured video is of Canyon Falls.
