Abandoned Houses

Abandoned Exploration

Huntington

Again I find myself exploring an abandoned house. This one is much more interesting on the exterior compared to the last one, with beautiful red bricks and a moldy roof. The inside was very vacant however, with little signs of anything left behind and there appeared to be an infestation of raccoons, with a strong smell to back it up. But it was worth while, located in Auburn and so not too far out of the way.

I have come to realize as of late that I use my fish eye lens way too much. It is a very addicting utensil, and at times I found myself using it on over half the photographs that I ended up keeping. So finally I worked towards breaking this habit, not allowing myself to use the fish eye until I had thoroughly explored and photographed the entire house. There are, without question, some images that need the fish eye, such as a room where you want to see every wall in one image. But for the most part, it was being overused and it also has the distinct disadvantage of blurring and warping the edges of the image.

Also, I have started a very in depth list of abandoned places both in Indiana and nearby States. There are a few interesting places in Philadelphia and in Evansville. Hopefully I will be able to make a couple day road trip to one of these locations and explore some larger scaled abandoned buildings.
